About this Event

The Coopersville Community Concert Band invites the community to attend its annual Spring Concert on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the Center Stage Theater inside Coopersville High School.

Admission is free, and doors will open at 7:15 p.m.

This year’s concert will feature patriotic selections in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, creating a meaningful evening of music for audience members of all ages. Representatives from our local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts have also been invited to participate in the event.

Under the direction of Luanne Devries and Tom Harsay, the CCCB will present an American-themed program that reflects both the spirit and history of America. The evening will open with stirring selections such as The Star-Spangled Banner by John Stafford Smith, arranged by Jack Stamp; American Fanfare by Rick Kirby; and National Emblem by E. E. Bagley, edited by Frederick Fennell.

More reflective and expressive works will include America the Beautiful by Samuel Augustus Ward, arranged by Carmen Dragon; Chester by William Schuman; and Appalachian Morning by Robert Sheldon. The program will also explore American storytelling and tradition through American Civil War Fantasy by Jerry H. Bilik, A Cowboy Symphony by Pierre La Plante, The Golden Age of Broadway featuring music by Richard Rodgers with lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, arranged by John Moss, Irving Berlin’s Songs of America by Irving Berlin, arranged by James Swearingen, and an Armed Services Medley arranged by Jeremy S. Martin honoring members of the military.

The concert will culminate in a powerful and celebratory finale with The Stars and Stripes Forever by John Philip Sousa—a rousing closing selection that has long stood as one of the most iconic marches in American music, bringing the evening to an energetic and celebratory conclusion.

Concert-goers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations to support Coopersville Cares, our local food pantry. Donations may be dropped off in the lobby before the performance. Some of the most-needed items include canned vegetables, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, soup, shelf-stable meals such as macaroni and cheese, canned pasta, and boxed meal helpers.

The band is 70 members strong and rehearses in the Coopersville High School Band Room on Monday nights from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The group covers expenses through generous donations from community members and grants from local organizations.
