29 singers from Florida will perform on May 7that 7pm at the charming and renowned St Johns Church. It will be a concert not to be missed and the American singers will be welcomed by the local Sibelius High School Choir with whom they will also share some songs for a wonderful evening of music and friendship as the music always builds bridges.
University of North Florida has one of the most important ensemble of their area and they typically perform ten to twenty concerts throughout the academic year.
Their repertoire covers a wide range of styles from Monteverdi to Whitacre to Britten and also spans the genres of world music and vocal jazz.
The Choral Ensemble in particular was spotlighted on the world stage as they sang the national anthem to open the 2012 Florida Republican Debate broadcast live on CNN-HD to over 5 million people.
Dr. Cara Tasher conductor has served as director of choral studies at the University of North Florida since 2006 relishing the opportunity to provide relevant life and professional experiences for her students in Jacksonville and around the world.
Tasher’s engagements as singer conductor and adjudicator have brought her to over 20 countries for concerts competitions festivals all-states and workshops with regular engagements as guest conductor for Mexico’s Coro de Teatro de Bellas Artes.
