Free Comic Book Day 2026 is ON.And no — it’s not going anywhere.
Every year on the first Saturday in May, comic shops across North America throw open their doors and give away FREE comics to anyone who walks in. Kids, longtime readers, first-timers, casual dabblers — if you’ve got hands, we’ve got comics.
Founded on a simple truth — there’s a comic out there for everyone — Free Comic Book Day is all about discovery. New stories. New characters. New obsessions. And yes… walking out with free stuff.
Last year had folks wondering if FCBD would survive after Diamond’s collapse. Plot twist: it did.
Universal Distribution has picked up the mantle, and FCBD 2026 is officially rolling forward.
What to expect:
• FREE comic books (while supplies last)
• Titles for all ages and interests
• A celebration of local comic shops as community hubs
Participating publishers include:
ARCHIE COMICS, DC Comics, Dynamite Entertainment, Image Comics, Mad Cave Studios, Oni Press, Titan Comics, UDON, and Vault Comics — with more variety than ever.
New for 2026:
For the first time, Free Comic Book Day is expanding into friendly local game stores, with support from Upper Deck and Wizards of the Coast — meaning comics and games get some love.
Whether you’re hunting your next favorite series, bringing the kids in for their first comic, or just grabbing free books because that’s the correct life choice — this is the day.
From your favorite local comic shop!
🎉 Comics. Community. Free stuff.
Come early. Bring friends. Leave with comics.
