Free Comic Book Day (FCBD), one of the comic book industry’s most beloved and anticipated celebrations is happening on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Cannington's family owned pop culture shop CHAOS POP CULTURE. The event, which traditionally takes place on the first Saturday in May, will be celebrated this year in August in the hopes that much of the uncertainty and disruption related to COVID-19 will have passed. This will be the store's first official celebration of the event since opening 2 years ago! Last years official event and it's releases were split over multiple dates and the store chose to merge it with their birthday celebrations. Chaos Pop is excited to finally hold this event on it's official date with the full slate of Free Comic Book Day releases available for all Perth comic book lovers to enjoy!
Founded on the belief that for every person out there, there’s a comic book they’ll love, the annual event offers a huge selection of free titles designed to appeal to a broad range of age levels and their tastes.
Every year the industry comes together to give away free comics and encourage both curious, first-time comic book readers and seasoned comic book fans to flock to the best place in the world: The Comic Shop!
Since opening in July 2019, Chaos Pop have offered the widdest variety and largest selection of new release and back issues comics - it's become a safe place and hub for the pop culture loving community, where fans come together to discover new comics, have fun, make friends, and find a sense of commonality.
Major publishers such as DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics, IDW Publishing, BOOM! Studios, Dynamite Entertainment, and Image Comics, along with a slew of independent publishers, put out free comics for fans to enjoy. The diverse range of titles available each year proves that there’s truly a book for everyone: from superheroes, to popular film and television shows, to beloved video games, and all-ages tales. Popular series available in the past include Pokemon, Doctor Who, SpongeBob, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Riverdale, Overwatch and Star Wars.
We cordially invite you to attend and to celebrate this occasion at Chaos Pop Culture, located at 3/1397 Albany Highway, Cannington on Saturday August 14 from 9am to 5pm.
We strongly encourage cosplay in all its weird and wonderful varieties - Let's give Albany highway something to talk about!
There will be fun activities, prizes and some live entertainment on the day.
