About this Event

Please only book if you're going to be able to attend. Arrive around 13:45 for registration before the yoga session begins.

What is it?

Beginner's yoga is a free 1 hour drop-in gentle yoga class for patients of East & Central Brighton GP Surgeries. It is held every Friday 14:00pm-15:00pm at Unit 4, Brighton.

This group session is for everyone, whatever your physical ability. They don't require any previous knowledge of yoga. The sessions integrate breathwork (breathing exercises that help to improve mental, physical, and spiritual well-being), yoga poses (gentle movements that we can adapt and modify depending on your ability) and meditation (staying present and relaxing to achieve a sense of calm, peace and balance).

Who is it for?

This session is for anyone who is registered with one of the following surgeries:

St Peter’s, Park Crescent, Ardingly, Pavilion, Regency, Arch, Wellsbourne, Broadway, Woodingdean

How to join in...

You can join in by selecting your surgery in the ticket option. All of the tickets are free and your name and contact information is confidential - we just like to know how many people will be joining us for each session.

The space, accessibility and refreshments...

Please know that the yoga session will be held on a first floor with no lift. Attendees must be able to walk up one flight of stairs. There will be relaxing music playing through a small speaker during the session.

There will be yoga mats, props and blankets, but please feel free to bring your bottle of water if you would like to have a drink during the class.

Who will be there...

There will be Debbie, our yoga teacher who will be there to support you and guide you through the session. Please let her know of any injuries or issues that you might have and she will make sure she adapts the poses for you.

There will also be a pharmacist from our PCN team who will be able to answer any question you have regarding your Medic*tion.

How many people will be there?

We have a maximum capacity of 15 places. We will make 10 tickets available through Eventbrite and keep 5 places available for drop-ins on the day. We may only have a few people turn up for a session or we may have 15 people. It's a lovely opportunity to make friends but you're also under no obligation to chat if you feel overwhelmed or prefer quiet.

What to do if you can no longer make it...

If you realise you can no longer make it, it's really helpful to us if you can let us know so that we can make your space available to someone else. If you forget to tell us or you're unable to reach out, please know we understand and you'll get another chance to book in whenever you're ready.

If you have questions about the event...

For any questions about the class please email [email protected]
