About the presenters:


Mark James

With over 20 years’ experience of handling construction disputes, Mark advises on all forms of building dispute and regularly brings Adjudication proceedings or Arbitration/Court proceedings where required.


Mark provides advice to contractors or employers in the construction industry who have encountered issues with the build, typically involving payment issues or defects. He is currently advising on cases requiring advice on the Building Safety Act 2022, including claims for Remediation Contribution Orders and under the Defective Premises Act.


David Morris

Specialising in both non-contentious and contentious construction, David advises clients across the contractual matrix by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts and development agreements for developers, employers, contractors, funders and consultants, and advises on complex and high-value projects.

David also has extensive experience of contentious construction matters and works with clients during active contracts to both manage the risk of and prepare for disputes that may arise.


Melissa Haskell

Melissa specialises in pan-regulatory issues providing support to businesses or individuals operating in a regulated sector, from one-off, isolated incidents to providing a complete overview of regulatory obligations.

Having started her career as a Solicitor- Advocate in a Criminal and Regulatory practise and later spent time in-house as a Regulatory Lawyer at the Council she carries a wealth of experience supporting clients with matters in sectors from both a prosecution and defence approach, with wide-ranging expertise in dealing with inquiries, investigations and hearings in a wide range of sectors to include health and safety, environmental health, professional misconduct, food-safety, and white-collar crime.


Philip Partington

Philip specialises in identifying his clients' high value intellectual property, assisting with securing it through registration and internal procedures and protecting intellectual property through specialist dispute resolution.

Philip is well known for successfully defending parties in complex court proceedings in both the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and High Court. He also deals with intellectual property oppositions and invalidity proceedings in both the UK and EU Intellectual Property Offices.
