FUNNY FOCIAL

Funny Focail is a bilingual comedy night created by Diane O’Connor and Louise O’Toole aimed at an audience with anything from beagán to morán Gaeilge. The comedy on the night is half through Irish and half through English providing a space to practice and learn cúpla focail, and mostly importantly to have a laugh!

Áine Gallagher, the “queen of offbeat”, is a professional comedian and artist described by Aisling Bea as a “mini Ardal O’Hanlon”. She loves performing but her true dream in life is to give everyone in Ireland a focal. That’s why she has become Ireland’s only Guerrilla Gaeilge Activist, roaming the streets with her ‘Cup of Focals’ and surprising strangers into speaking some Irish with her.

Working across mediums, she not only aims to unlock the Irish in all of us but is dedicated to using her wholly unique approach to tell authentic stories, guarantee audiences a “divinely awkward” experience and help people connect through humour.

“Promotes the Irish language in a fresh way” The Irish Times

Louise O’Toole - Recently returned from a smashing run of her second solo show Auntie-hero at the Edinburgh Fringe, Louise is a regular on the comedy scene and has graced the stages of festivals ar fud na tíre, All Together Now and Electric Picnic san áireamh. Is Bray native í Louise agus beidh sí mar bean an tí ar an oíche.

Louisa Ní Éideáin - A writer and comedian based i mBaile Átha Cliath, díolach amach a seó aonarch dátheangach is dèanaí ‘Dopa-Mean Girl’ ag Dublin agus Edinburgh Fringe. You’ll hear Louisa regularly as Gaeilge on Newstalk and TG4.

Diane O’Connor is a stand-up comedian, writer and activist. She is a regular on the comedy scene with her high energy and witty observations, playing some of Ireland’s favorite festivals; Electric Picnic, Kaleidoscope and Scene & Heard. Le deanaí thosaigh Diane ag foghlaim Gaeilge arís, tá a mhúinteoir cúig bliana d’aois!
