How can comics and zines be used to explore themes of queerness and mental health?Come prepared to draw, connect, and celebrate queer creativity in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission district for a one-of-a-kind, FREE event that brings queer stories to the table!
Join Queer LifeSpace and Mission: Comics & Art for a community-centered event celebrating queer voices in comics and the role graphic novels play in sharing queer stories about mental health. The event will kick off with presentations by two queer Bay Area local artists, Simon Jane and Sarah Maloney, where they will share their work, their creative process, and their experiences with the intersection between comics, mental health, and queer identity.
Following the presentations, attendees will have a chance to connect with one another through a collaborative comic-making session – no experience necessary! Whether you’re a seasoned storyteller and artist or just curious, come connect with other queer comic and zine fans and express yourself through the power of storytelling and art.
