About this Event
Bring Filipino food into your kitchen with this instalment of our Kitchen Stories series hosted by Rex De Guzman, who’ll be diving deeper into his new book Kamayan: The Filipino Cookbook.
Rex left traditional kitchen roles to reconnect with his Filipino heritage in 2014, launching his first pop‑up at 21 and championing Filipino cuisine in the UK. After leaving Gordon Ramsay’s Maze in 2018, he founded Turo Turo, catering for major brands and winning multiple British Street Food Awards. He later reached the finals of Channel 4’s Great Cookbook Challenge. He is now focused on opening his first Filipino restaurant, writing a cookbook, and consulting on food projects.
Join chef Rex De Guzman on a journey through bold Filipino flavours in his new book Kamayan, ranging from everything from barbecued pork, garlic rice and vibrant pickles to silky condensed‑milk crème caramel. Kamayan showcases classics like Chicken Adobo and Charred Aubergine Omelette alongside modern, everyday dishes such as Roasted Cauliflower and Peanut Stew with Miso and Harissa, offering an accessible guide to Filipino cooking.
