About this Event

Create Academy are on a mission to inspire the nation to discover their creative side with beautifully curated video courses, giving unprecedented access to the UK's best designers, makers, gardeners and chefs.

To celebrate Craft Week 2024, Fortnum’s are partnering with Create Academy to offer 5 incredible makers the opportunity to demonstrate their talents in a series of hands-on workshops all themed around the dining table.

Having taught for over 10 years, Katharine Amies has come to see that given the right guidance, anyone can learn to paint if they want to. In this course Katharine invites you to join her in the deeply absorbing and creative process of translating what we see in nature onto a piece of paper, using watercolour to create botanical themed menus. Discover the tools and techniques you’ll need to be able to paint a variety of botanical specimens, from fruit to flowers.

Katharine Amies is a leading British botanical artist. Katharine's work seeks to capture the intimate essence of plants in a manner that photographs, despite their detail, fail to convey. Katharine trained at the Chelsea Physic Garden in 2000. Her work is represented in the Shirley Sherwood Collection of Botanical Art at Kew Gardens which is the largest collection of contemporary botanical art in the world.

All the materials you will need for the workshop are included in the ticket price.
