“Come, follow me” – Vocation and finding one’s place in the Church
The Lord addresses a personal call to each one of us. However, finding one’s place in the Church, whether in the married life or through a vocation, is particularly complex today. Yet, Our Lord calls and confirms young men and women today as at all times in history. In this talk we will unpack the question of vocation, confront the particular problems of our own age in following the Lord and look at remedies for dealing with them as we seek our place in Church.
Topics covered:
• Modern difficulties in discernment.
• Basic principles concerning vocation. What is and isn’t a vocation.
• Prerequisites for a vocation or the married life.
• How to discern.
• How to deal with difficulties that can arise.
The night will begin as usual with a Holy Hour from 6:30-7:30pm in the church, after which we will move to the school hall. Note that soup and bread will be served in the hall from 7:30-8:00pm, with the talk commencing at 8pm. A $10 donation is kindly requested to cover the cost of food.
