About this Event
Join Us for Forming Technologies and Hot Stamping!
Hosted by the SAE Central Ontario Section and the University of Waterloo, this event features presentations from Magna International, AutoForm Engineering, and the University of Waterloo, covering both academic and industry perspectives on stamping and hot forming. The event also highlights the growing role of simulation in design and optimization of tooling, components, and crash structures, aligning with advances in digital manufacturing. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the Forming & Crash Lab, showcasing the experimental facilities dedicated to metal forming and crashworthiness research that supports broader automotive initiatives at the University of Waterloo, including those associated with the Waterloo Centre for Automotive Research (WatCAR).
The event is intended for engineering students, researchers, and industry professionals interested in how sheet metals are formed into desired components, where they are applied, and how the components and tooling are designed and validated using simulation and physical testing for forming and crash performance. It also provides opportunities for technical learning, discussion, and networking.
