About this Event
Foraging Folklore Walk
Join us to uncover the edible plants growing all around us and the hedgerow histories woven through them on this guided foraging folklore walk.
A beginner friendly community walk around The Naze Nature Reserve for 2hrs. Learning what plants are edible and folklore associated with them. We will focus on 5 plants and there will be a short break halfway where you can try a foraged edible. This month it will be a goosegrass infusion.
Plant stories of April event:
- Gorse
- Hawthorn

We’ll explore at a gentle pace, learning to recognise common wild foods while sharing the myths, traditions and everyday stories connected to the landscape. This beginner-friendly event is open to curious minds of all levels. Whether you’re completely new or simply looking to enjoy a thoughtful community walk outdoors.
There will be some uneven terrain and if there has been rain it will be muddy in places.
We’ll meet and finish at the outdoor tables of The Naze Discovery Centre. Toilets and food and drink are available inside. Feel free to grab a hot drink for the walk and stay afterwards to relax or explore.
