About this Event
This course aims to help you develop a systematic approach to managing patients with a variety of different foot and ankle injuries and pathologies. There is a real emphasis on enhancing your clinical reasoning skills, differential diagnosis, and ability to use precise therapeutic handling techniques. We also provide extensive treatment ideas, including manual therapy, taping and individually tailored exercise programmes. We provide you with lots of clinical pearls and tips that you can apply immediately to your clinical practice. The course is a mixture of theory, case studies, group discussions and LOTS of practicals!
Learning Objectives:
1. To develop subjective history-taking and pattern-recognition skills specific to the foot and ankle.
2. To develop a differential diagnosis and practical assessment of:
- Lateral ankle pain
- Medial ankle pain
- Posterior ankle pain
- Plantar heel pain
3. To develop a systematic approach to identifying treatable MSK impairments that can be used to guide the rehabilitation process.
4. To understand the key management principles for common foot and ankle conditions (e.g., footwear modifications, exercise prescription, manual therapy, taping, graded rehabilitation).

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
1. Liz Bayley MSc MCSP HCPC
Liz is currently a physiotherapist for Trinity Laban and is the head physio for Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ in London, working as part of the company West End Osteopathy.
Her years as a professional dancer sparked her interest in sports injuries and she obtained an Advanced Diploma in sports therapy in 2009. Liz then worked as a sports therapist in the West End on shows such as ‘Wicked’, ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Singing in the Rain’, ‘Shrek’, ‘Matilda’, and ‘Jersey Boys’.
Liz’s first degree is in psychology, and she graduated with a master’s degree in physiotherapy from King’s College. She has written articles on dance injury prevention for 'The Stage' and has been a guest on many different podcasts talking about her work with performers. Her special interests are foot and ankle, injury prevention, stretching and flexibility, Reformer Pilates, and return-to-sport rehabilitation. Her passion lies in helping performers reach their full potential by staying ‘show fit’.
2. Lizzie Marlow MCSP
Lizzie Marlow is a Lower Limb Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner with extensive experience in both the NHS and private sector. Lizzie has a particular interest in the assessment and management of complex foot and ankle pathologies. Lizzie works with lower limb consultants on clinical pathway development within the NHS. Lizzie particularly enjoys working with runners and recreational athletes.
Lizzie has completed several advanced clinical practice modules at King’s College University and The University of Hertfordshire. These courses have helped her to develop advanced skills in the assessment and management of patients with complex musculoskeletal conditions.
Lizzie enjoys her role as a lecturer and course tutor on a variety of different lower limb and running courses, as well as teaching evening lectures, podcasts and international symposiums. Lizzie has recently started working with Liz Bayley to develop a “Foot and Ankle Fundamentals Course”, which will be increasingly available next year.

In the event of cancellation of the event due to any unforeseen circumstances, our liability will be limited to the refund of the full course fee.
If you decide to cancel your registration, we will refund the course fee minus the Eventbrite booking fee up to 4 weeks before the event. However, you can swap your place for another attendee you find any time before the event.
