About this Event
As part of this year’s Grow Urban festival, join us at Cody Dock for a special walk and talk celebrating our community food-growing projects.
Cody Dock is a unique spot on the industrial banks of the River Lea. While most tourists stick to the city centre, it’s these hidden, alternative spaces that make London truly exciting. Discover a different side of the city and see what we’ve built together against the odds.
Meet the Sisters of Soil During the tour, you’ll meet our Sisters of Soil project, a women-only group who achieved something incredible last year: harvesting 114kg of produce from just 12 m² and saving 239kg of CO2 in only two months!
More Than Just Gardening You’ll see exactly where the fresh produce for our café comes from and learn how growing your own food is a powerful way for communities to reconnect with their diverse environmental and cultural heritage. We will explore how women have traditionally nurtured the land in sustainable ways, protecting biodiversity and ecosystems for generations while providing fresh, healthy food for their families and communities.
This is a chance to chat about why local growing is a real alternative to industrial agriculture and how we can all be part of the solution to food inequalities. Come find out how a simple vegetable patch can become a powerful hub for change.
We can't wait to show you what's next!
