Welcome!
Folktales for New Scots is about community and cultural exchange through local folktales and crafting.
A creative meeting place for people from different cultural backgrounds – bringing together New Scots and more long-established Scottish residents.
Whether you’d like to get lost in quiet print-making alongside others, or chat away with new people and share your culture, this is a space for meeting other locals and being creative together.
Who is it for?
Ages 16+
We welcome New Scots - people with migration and asylum experience – and also ‘born and bred’ locals and long-established residents.
What to expect on 31st May:
• Scottish folktales with a local storyteller
• Print-making led by Beetroots Collective
• A welcoming space to create and connect
• All materials included, no experience needed
About the workshops:
This is a series of workshops, designed to build on each other.
All the workshops are based around creative print-making, with some including a visit from a local storyteller.
Can I attend more than one session?
Yes! You’re welcome to attend one session or many.
Artwork will build from week to week, resulting in a film shown at a street celebration in Peebles, in March 2027.
Folktales for New Scots is funded by Creative Scotland National Lottery Fund
