About the Artists
Hands of the Heron “a wondrous collection of curious story-songs, choral singing and carefully layered instrumentation” Joyzine Hands of the Heron is a Bristol dreamfolk trio. Their instantly recognisable vocal harmonies are delivered by three frontwomen – Bec Garthwaite, Beth Roberts & Claire Vine – each of whom brings a signature writing style to the band’s mercurial sound. They move effortlessly between sparse choral folk and spellbinding chamber pop, richly layered with an assortment of strings, drones and reeds.
Toby Hay and David Ian Roberts “Beautiful and very hypnotic” Guy Garvey – BBC 6Music A rare chance to experience these two accomplished musicians performing as a duo. Improvising new music inspired by the acoustics of Bristol Cathedral. Expect finger picked guitar explorations inspired by music from all over the world.
Frankie Archer “Extraordinary” Jools Holland Frankie Archer has exploded onto the electrofolk scene with music that transcends stereotypes using a combination of manipulated samples, synths, drum tracks and earthy Northumbrian fiddle and voice to capture her audience. Her aim? To shake up genres and traditions, challenge perspectives and call for a fairer future.
