Please join the Block/Henderson Duo for Women’s History Month as they present a free recital of music for flute and piano written and/or arranged by female composers. The audience will be led on a journey through three centuries, taking delight in the lyrical melodies of Amy Marcy Beach, Florence Price, Eugenie Rocherolle, and Kathleen Vadala, and will be tapping their toes to the exciting rhythms of Avril Coleridge-Taylor, Amanda Harberg, Mary D. Watkins, Lauren Bernofsky and others.

Renae Block received a BS in Music Education from West Chester University, PA and has been a professional educator and performer for over 34 years. In 2020 she received a full fellowship from the University of Delaware School of Music to pursue a master’s degree in flute performance, and graduated in December of 2022 with high honors. Renae is the owner/director of The Evesham Flute Studio in NJ and is the current treasurer and a past-president of The Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia.
She performs solo and chamber musc recitals throughout the region, and conducts both youth and adult flute choirs for annual community engagements.
Linda Henderson holds a BFA in Piano Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MM in Piano Performance from West Chester University. She was an associate professor in the School of Theater at the University of the Arts, where she taught piano and served as coach/accompanist for 25 years. She is an active collaborative pianist, accompanist, and soloist, and performs regularly with Opera Philadelphia, Philadelphia Boys Choir, and Walnut St. Theater as well as dozens of national Broadway tours at the Academy of Music. Most recently she played for the run of Jersey Boys at the Walnut last October.
