The first hour of session will be guided by Michelle leading you through somatic movement and energetic flow while Arjun accompanies on various percussive instruments. It will be a mat practice with breath work, incorporating, but not limited to, traditional yoga asana. It is suitable for all bodies and levels of practice. Best for those willing to leave comfort zone and “take a ride” on the breath rhythms. The second hour Arjun will open up the sound paths creating a layered experience of rhythm. Students are free to continue to move without yoga mats or choose to sit in meditation or perhaps recline to receive the sound waves.
We will consider this experience two hour event to be a movement-sound meditation.
Arjun Bruggeman, world percussionist, drummer, composer and session recording artist, is highly acclaimed for his unique hybrid of East-meets-West rhythms. He brings two decades of experience as a practitioner of Eastern and Western spiritual practices to his playing, along with sixteen years' touring as a tabla player with Krishna Das.
Through deep respect for ancient musical traditions, Arjun creates a meditative and healing environment that connects listeners to the present moment.
Arjun looks forward to connecting with Buffalo community as he makes his visit back here from his on-going world touring. Shakti is pleased to host this sensitive and tuned-in mega talent.
