TOPIC:
This class will provide a working understanding of Florida’s Asset Forfeiture Law and how to apply proper forfeiture techniques in criminal cases. In Florida, law enforcement seizes thousands of assets each year. Law enforcement officers must be familiar with asset forfeitures, relevant laws and the requirements listed within Florida State Statutes. What are the Grounds for Forfeiture? Any person(s) who possesses property tied to illegal activity, including items purchased with proceeds of that criminal enterprise, may face civil asset forfeiture.
CLASS OBJECTIVES:

INSTRUCTOR: Sergeant Jacqueline Lee Hearon is supervisor of the Economic Crime Task Force and Fraud Unit of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office. She heads a multi-agency task force and conducts fraud training classes. She instructed for ten (10) years at the Brevard Community College Police Academy. Currently, Sergeant Hearon is a member of the ACFE and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI.)
