About this Event
Feel the energy of Contemporary African Dance, and Feel the Rhythm, Move with Freedom, and Connect Mind & Body.
Join our monthly dance workshop and experience movement in a whole new way. This workshop offers dance enthusiass a transformative experience that will allow you to explore the dance mind / body connection from an embodied perspective. This isn’t just a dance class — it’s a chance to reconnect with your body, exploring rhythm, and learning to impact your movement with greater flow, confidence and expression, blending the powerful energy of African dance traditions with Western Contemporary dance, underpinned by Somatic practice.
Somatic practice is a body awareness method that helps you to develop a deeper understanding, flow and connection to your body when moving, allowing you to move with more freedom and ease, to experience movement and dance in a whole new way.
This workshop will help you work with your body — not against it.
The session is led by movement artist, choreographer/performer, lecturer in dance and Somatic Movement Educator / Therapist - Francis Angol. Working within his Embodied Dance Practice framework, Francis will take you through a most enlightend experience, exploring his approach to contemporary African dance that draws from the philosophical teachings and practices of dance from the African Diaspora and Western Contemporary dance.
This workshop offers a unique and enriching experience for those ready to go deeper. If you have some dance experience and want to expand your movement, creativity, and self-awareness, this is for you.
