Flamenco Memphis celebrates one year anniversary with an evening of flamenco music,
singing and dance! The performance, presented in a "tablao" style, will bring the audiences a diverse repertoire
that includes traditional and original flamenco compositions. Flamenco Memphis will bring an evening of art aiming to inspire and captivate audiences with this unique blend of history,
sounds and movement that is Flamenco . New works include "Alegrias," "SoleĆ” por Bulerias," and "Seguiriyas."
We are excited to welcome a new artist to the group that will
bring to life the beautiful and intricate rhythms through percussion instruments!

The artists:
Roy Brewer is a freelance musician and arranger in Memphis. He plays violin, mandolin and
various styles of guitar. Roy has been studying flamenco guitar since 1980. He earned a PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of Memphis in 1996.
Noelia Garcia Carmona, a native of Barcelona, has called Memphis her home for the last 21 years. She is a dance educator, performer and choreographer with more than 30 years of professional experience. She is dance faculty at Collage Dance Collective where she teaches ballet, Spanish dance and Flamenco to students of all ages. Her love for Flamenco and the arts, led her to co-create Flamenco Memphis with the mission to share and educate the audiences about this ancient Spanish art form. She is a guest faculty at University of
Memphis where she teaches Flamenco as World Dance class.
Mari Kamikura is a Japanese flutist who is active in the Memphis area as both a flute teacher
and performer. Occasionally, Mari substitutes for flute/piccolo in the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Previously, she served as an artist fellow at the Memphis Music Initiative, where she
contributed to the enhancement of the band program at Shelby County schools. Mari collaborates with Flamenco Memphis, bringing her flute to elaborate the unique sound and
textures of the ensemble.
Melanie Pyron, originally from El Dorado, Arkansas, studied fine arts in Louisiana, London,Germany, and Barcelona. Annual travels to Mexico as a child stimulated her lifelong passion for the Spanish language and the music from all Hispanic cultures. While in
Barcelona, she witnessed live flamenco performances and is deeply moved by its unique and passionate expression.
Daniel Emilio Padron Hoepp, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, is an interpreter and educator of Latin percussion and drums with 15 years of experience. Performing Latin and classical music, he is currently a performance student at the U university of Memphis on full scholarship. His passion for percussion has led him to stand out in the Memphis stages, collaborating with a diverse number of bands from symphonic music, to reggae, urban music, latin and recently flamenco!
