About this Event
Fix Once, Fix Properly - Building Longer-Lasting, Climate-Resilient Roads
Join us for an in-person event exploring practical solutions to potholes and how better road construction can create longer-lasting, climate-resilient roads that reduce repair costs and disruption.
Dr Nick Thom, Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham, will present his research into potholes and road deterioration. His work combines real-world testing with advanced modelling to understand why roads fail and how more durable road surfaces can be achieved.
Nick will be joined by Green Party councillors Richard Mallender (Rushcliffe Borough Council) and Matthew Spoors (Newark & Sherwood District Council), who will share their experience of local road maintenance challenges and discuss how longer-lasting solutions could benefit our communities.
This event is an opportunity to learn more, ask questions, and explore how fixing potholes properly can lead to safer roads and better use of public money.
