About this Event
It’s the Five Days of Fitmas! Join us every day, from December 9 through December 13, 11 am to noon, for a special holiday-themed class led by your favorite Crosby Wellness Center instructors. These classes are designed to help keep you on track with your health goals this holiday season while still enjoying the fun and joy this time of year has to offer.
After a full week of rocking around the Christmas tree, it’s time to quiet your soul with a relaxing guided meditation and sound healing experience. Under the careful guidance of Crosby Wellness Center group exercise instructor Miranda Harris, you will participate in sound therapy, which has existed across cultures and throughout history to promote health and wellbeing.
Research shows that sound healing therapy can minimize and relieve pain, stimulate the immune system, reduce stress and improve mental and emotional clarity.
You will be guided through meditation in a seated or reclined position and experience a crystal bowl sound bath. As you relax, crystal bowls resonate with the crystalline structure of your cells to balance your body's electromagnetic field, cleanse and strengthen the energy you radiate, and promote a deeper sense of calm.
Special Instructions: Attendees are encouraged to sit or recline on the floor for this program. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, towel, or small blanket; chairs will be available for those who prefer to use one. The room can also be cool during this program, so cold-sensitive participants may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater. All attendees are also encouraged to bring their own bottles of water.
This program is presented by Miranda Harris and is hosted by the Winter Park Health Foundation in partnership with the Crosby Wellness Center.
About the Presenter:
Miranda became inspired to learn more about yoga philosophy while traveling across India in 2017. She later enrolled in year-long yoga teacher training with the intention to deepen her personal practice. She quickly found a passion for teaching and went on to complete her 500 hour yoga teacher training at Warrior One in Orlando, FL. Miranda utilizes mindfulness and purposeful movement to creatively and carefully guide students into their bodies. Above all, she believes yoga should be accessible to all humans. She incorporates modifications and props in her teachings to safely challenge and inspire students. Miranda is currently pursuing a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling at Rollins College.
