About this Event
Come learn about local seafood, learn to shuck an oyster, and make some fish prints! Philadelphia’s own community seafood program Fishadelphia is highlighted in the PBS docuseries Hope in the Water. This event will include a brief screening of the show and a panel of community members featured in the segment, and also offer opportunities to learn how to shuck an oyster, make a fish print, and explore some real fishing gear!
Along with the event, Our Fishing Log will guest curate an accompanying exhibit showcasing gyotaku fish prints made by middle and high students in Fishadelphia’s youth program, as well as photos by Neal Santos that capture the journey a fish takes to get from the ocean to Fishadelphia members. Our Fishing Log is a multimedia, community storytelling project about Philly’s local fish, people who love fish, and the ways fish connect us to the world, each other, and ourselves.
