About this Event
Join us at Robert A. Kinsley Nature Preserve and learn about fireflies' life cycle, how to identify species by their flash pattern, and the science behind their illuminated butts. We'll also learn about the threats to fireflies and what steps you can take to ensure their survival.
What to Expect and How to Prepare: This event is open to ages 10 and up (anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult). This event will include an approximately one-mile out-and-back hike of easy to moderate difficulty. There are some elevation changes. The hike will go through wooded areas and meadow areas, moving at a slow pace. Surfaces may contain roots, gravel, or rocks, and there is one small stream crossing. There are no restrooms available on site. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Bring a red-lensed headlamp if you have one, if not some will be available to borrow. Hiking poles may be desired for water crossing. Bring any snacks or drinks you may wish to have. Dress appropriately for the weather with sufficient layers.
Refund Policy: If you are unable to attend this event after purchasing a ticket, refund requests must be made at least 48 hours before the event.
Animal Policy: Service animals active or in training are welcome. Please leave all pets at home.
Cancellation Policy: This event will be held rain or shine, with cancellation for severe weather made at the time of the event. If the Conservancy reschedules the event, attendees will be emailed and tickets will be automatically moved to the new date. If the Conservancy cancels the event, attendees will be notified via email when possible and refunded.
