Firecracker Math is for curious and challenge-loving kids in Grades K-11. In our math classes, we will show your child that math can be incredibly creative, exciting, and fun.

Our program is based on the best traditions and classical mathematics teaching methods. We introduce and explore math concepts and problem-solving techniques. Students develop a love for math as they learn how to apply reasoning skills and logical thinking to all aspects of their studies. We will help your child to build a solid foundation and understanding of mathematics.

Theoretical instructions are combined with practical exercises that employ chess, brainteasers, and logical puzzles to demonstrate serious mathematical concepts.

Our classes are in-person and online weekly hour-long classes Monday – Friday. Grades: K-2, 3-5, 6-9, and 9-11. We offer small class sizes, experienced and enthusiastic teachers, and an individual approach according to each student’s needs. In addition, Teachers have advanced degrees in Mathematics and STEM fields.

• After-school Enrichment Classes: Weekly classes are offered onsite and online in Berkeley, Piedmont/Oakland, San Francisco, and Lafayette.

• Test and Contest Preparation:
  AMC 8 (Middle School & 10/12 (High School), Math Kangaroo Competitions Preparation Course.

Program Director and Teacher: Ella Levine

Ella founded Firecracker Math program in 2012 to help children to strengthen their math skills and confidence, and to further develop their aptitude and abilities in math. Firecracker Math students go beyond the school curriculum. They learn about other important fields of mathematics such as topology, logic, probability, and statistics. In her approach Ella employs anecdotes from the history of mathematics, math games, and puzzles that spike children's interest in math, and help them appreciate its beauty and power.

Ella believes that math, as the ultimate human science, develops kids' abilities in reasoning and logical thinking, and gives them excellent tools to succeed later in their lives.
