About this Event
Nature journaling is a great way to build or deepen your connection to the natural world around you. You don't have to be a naturalist or artist to build a meaningful practice, either, anyone can do it. If you're curious about nature journaling, or already have a practice that you would like to deepen, consider joining us for this two session, week long course. In the first session we'll explore some techniques for starting and sustaining a journaling practice, do some journaling exercises together, and end by sharing some resources to help identify and learn more about the nature you observe. You'll leave with a list of inspiring prompts for the intervening week, and we'll reconvene a week later for one more session to see how things went, answer any questions, and do another journaling exercise together.
Please bring the following: a notebook (or just paper) and a pencil/pen. You are welcome to bring other art supplies if you prefer (i.e. colored pencils, travel watercolor set, charcoal, etc), but these are entirely optional.
Magpie and Tiger also has a wonderful selection of supplies to purchase.
Shelby Perry is the Wildlands Ecology Director at Northeast Wilderness Trust. She oversees all aspects of the ecology program, which conducts, supports, and shares ecological research pertaining to wildlands and inventories ecological values on the Wilderness Trust’s protected lands. As a lifelong learner, and professional ecologist and naturalist, Shelby has spent countless hours observing, recording, and investigating tiny moments of wonder in nature.
*** Two-session Nature Journaling course on June 4 and June 11, from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
