At its core, writing is an act of seeking and gathering, connecting and communing, figuring and transfiguring. Our creative process will follow the same sequence as walking a labyrinth: We will shed what does not serve us, find our way to center, and then emerge with a new idea, impulse, or understanding—as well as a written artifact from our journey. The Buddhist metta prayer we recite together at SSC each Sunday will serve as the textual catalyst for writing. Bring your pen, your notebook, and your beautiful heart. Please arrive promptly at 7pm.

Jill Lahnstein—seeker, writer, and teacher—has spent most of her life exploring the power of the written word. After receiving her BA in English and her MA in composition and rhetoric, she devoted thirty years to teaching writing and literature at the college level. Each semester in the classroom only made more clear to her the potential of writing to transform the rhetoric of pain into something more gentle and useful. She applies that philosophy in her work as a transpersonal hypnotherapy practitioner and in her ongoing writing series Real Body Chronicles on Substack.
