About this Event

Street photography is about paying attention to the moments unfolding in everyday life. In this workshop, photographer Guilherme Zauith will introduce the key principles of street and documentary photography, focusing on observation, timing, and composition. Through discussion and image analysis, participants will learn how to work in public space, anticipate moments, and create stronger, more intentional photographs.

The workshop begins with a one-hour session at the gallery, where participants will be introduced to the foundations of street photography and visual narrative. Touching on ways to think beyond single images and encouraging participants to begin exploring sequences and small photo essays, we will spend time looking at examples of street photographers, discussing approaches, and considering how different choices can shape the way a story is told through images.

For the remaining two hours, participants will head outside for a guided photo walk through the Fashion District. We will explore the neighbourhood’s street life, graffiti, architecture, and cultural diversity while applying the concepts discussed earlier. The walk will conclude near the Chinatown arch, where participants will have the opportunity to reflect on the images captured during the session and discuss different approaches to photographing in public space.

This workshop is suitable for beginner and intermediate photographers interested in developing their visual awareness and storytelling. It is also designed as a space to connect with others, encouraging conversation, shared learning, and a sense of community among participants. Participants are welcome to use any camera or mobile phone.
