This course introduces the fundamental financial concepts and mathematics that support decision-making in real estate investment, with a focus on the six functions of a dollar. Students will learn how to calculate and apply each function in real-world contexts, such as personal finance, investment planning, and loan management. We'll focus on understanding these concepts using the provided, pre-populated Excel spreadsheet and interpreting its results to support effective decision-making.
** A laptop computer with Excel is required.
What you will learn:
This course will provide you with essential financial literacy for real estate investing, focusing on the principles of cash flow compounding and discounting. We will explore these concepts, perform calculations, and interpret the results for both compounding and discounting.
You will learn how to:
· Apply Compounding and discounting concepts and calculations to real estate evaluations and real-world financial planning.
· Estimate real estate values based on income.
· Determine the value of a real estate investment based on projected future cash flows.
· Calculate growth rates as a method to verify future valuations.
This course serves as a foundation for the Advanced Topics in Financial Literacy for Investment Real Estate, and it is recommended that you complete this introductory course first. Participants will receive pre-populated spreadsheets and various examples during the course. No prior experience with Excel is required.
