About this Event
has teamed with director Werner Herzog to create an extraordinary documentary film about the human brain โ join for a special screening in New York!
Through the lens of legendary filmmaker Werner Herzog, Theater of Thought takes audiences on a provocative journey into the study of the mind and consciousness, daring us to question whether we truly have autonomy over our thoughts, or if our brains will inevitably become infused with mind-controlling technology in the not so distant future. Gathering insight and predictions from some of the worldโs most influential scientists and innovators, Theater of Thought is an exploration of the ethical, and existential, effects that neurotechnology presents in our rapidly advancing world.
The Neurorights Foundation is an organization that seeks to promote ethical innovation, engages multilateral organizations, regional organizations, national governments, companies, entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, and the public at large to promote innovation and raise awareness about the human rights implications of neurotechnologies.
The DWIH New York was established in 2010 to strengthen Germanyโs reputation as a land of research, science and innovation by providing a platform for leaders in science, technology and the humanities to engage in transatlantic exchange and collaboration.
Attendance is free, but please register in advance.
There will be a short introduction before the film, followed by a Q&A with Rafael Yuste, Professor of Biological Sciences at Columbia University and Chief Scientific Advisor of Theater of Thought, moderated by Stephen Damianos, Executive Director of the Neurorights Foundation, and an Adjunct Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University.
