Film Screening & Discussion: Carol of the Bells (Shchedryk)
Join us for a powerful film screening of Carol of the Bells (Shchedryk, 2022), a poignant historical drama directed by Olesia Morgunets-Isaienko.
Set against the backdrop of Soviet repression and Nazi occupation, the film tells the interwoven story of three families — Ukrainian, Polish, and Jewish — united by shared tragedy and enduring humanity. At its heart is Shchedryk, the beloved Ukrainian carol by Mykola Leontovych, which becomes a beacon of hope, resilience, and cultural unity amidst war and forced assimilation.
Following the screening, we invite you to an open discussion on the role of culture as a tool for memory, resistance, and dialogue in times of conflict and historical trauma.
