About this Event
Join the Sharing Stories from 1977 project as we host a free film screening of Bella! This Woman's Place is in the House, a documentary film by Jeff L. Lieberman, that profiles the trailblazing congresswoman, Bella Abzug.
As we near Election Day, see how Congresswoman Bella Abzug influenced a who’s who of women in politics and entertainment featured in this film from Hillary Clinton to Barbra Streisand.
So many issues that matter today-civil rights, disability, LGBT rights, privacy, government ethics, women’s right, childcare, the environment-were key to Abzug’s work in Congress in the 1970s. She also helped dream up and lead the National Women’s Conference held in Houston in 1977.
We will also feature a post-film Q&A panel discussion with director, Jeff L. Lieberman and Battling Bella author, Dr. Leandra Zarnow.
