'GRACE A Prayer for Peace' brings together filmmaker Dame Gaylene Preston and artist Dame Robin White (Ngāti Awa) in an extraordinary collaboration.
Robin White has spent more than five decades creating artwork which ranges from iconic landscapes of Aotearoa and Te Waipounamu, to collaborative tapa cloth. GRACE A Prayer for Peace, directed by celebrated filmmaker Gaylene Preston, traces White’s evolution as an artist, and her creative response to the world around her. Filmed in Aotearoa, Japan and Kiribati, the film follows Robin working with collaborators and reflecting on what drives her creativity.
GRACE is presented to mark International Women’s Day 2026. It premiered at the 2025 Whānau Mārama New Zealand International Film Festival, was featured at the Hiroshima International Film Festival, and will soon travel back to Japan to open the new Hiroshima City Audiovisual Centre.
Following the screening, join both Robin and Gaylene for an artist talk.
This special screening of GRACE has been organised in collaboration between the Media, Film, and Communication Program | Pāpāho, Whitiāhua, Pārokoroko with Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
