About this Event
An animated documentary about the March 2002 hijacking of the TV signal in China by Falun Gong practitioners. Award-winning filmmaker Jason Loftus and celebrated comic book artist Daxiong who has drawn for Justice League and Star Wars tell the resilient story of those fighting for religious freedom in a mixed-media documentary masterpiece. The film is 50 minutes long. Lunch will be served.
The film was Canada’s Official Submission for the 2023 Oscars for the ‘Best International Film’ category. Every year over 90 countries around the world choose one film to represent them at the Oscars. It’s the first time Canada has ever chosen a documentary, animated film, or Mandarin-language film for this honour.
"Eternal Spring" is the second of two films to be screened prior to Falun Gong's July 11th rally on Capital Hill, marking 25 years of persecution.
