About this Event
Film Night with Northwest Arkansas Land Trust
📅 April 9 | 6–8 PM
📍 Northwest Arkansas Land Trust Offices / Ozark Mountain Smokehouse
1725 Smoke House Trail, Fayetteville, AR 72701
Join Northwest Arkansas Land Trust for an evening of film, conversation, and community as we explore the landscapes and stories that make NWA so special.
We’ll premiere a short film created in collaboration with SUDO Studios, offering an inside look at NWALT’s work to protect land and water across Northwest Arkansas. The film follows Land Trust staff as they work alongside landowners, community partners, and the landscapes we steward—providing a deeper look at who we are, why this work matters, and how conservation happens on the ground.
The evening will also feature a screening of Witch Hazel Advent: The Story of an Ozark Poet (2012) by filmmaker Sarah Moore. The short documentary profiles Arkansas poet and peace activist John Rule, who lived off-the-grid in the Ozark Mountains. The film highlights the natural beauty of the region while introducing audiences to Rule’s unpublished poetry and unique perspective on life in the Ozarks.
In 2013, John Rule donated his 140-acre property on Frog Bayou to Northwest Arkansas Land Trust for permanent conservation, ensuring that the land he loved would remain protected for generations to come.
In addition to the film screenings, NWALT staff will share a short presentation about our current conservation initiatives in the Illinois River Watershed and the role land protection plays in safeguarding water quality, wildlife habitat, and the natural heritage of our region.
🍿 Popcorn and drinks will be provided.
Whether you're new to the Land Trust or already part of our community, this is a great opportunity to learn more about conservation in Northwest Arkansas and connect with others who care about protecting the places we all love.
