Welcome to the Fight for North Kensington. Seven years ago the devastating tragedy at Grenfell Tower left our community shaken and forever changed. The most recent report has highlighted key issues and gives us even more reason to continue to support the North Kensington Community.
The Big Fight UK has held an annual Fight 4 Grenfell event; fundraising and supporting The Grenfell Foundation, whilst fostering a community spirit through our white collar boxing fight camp and show.
The Fight for North Kensington allows us to continue supporting the community, raising funds for health and wellbeing organisations in North Kensington. These include 'Your Local Community Hub', 'Minds United', 'The Clement James Centre', 'The Latimer Road Vets' and 'The Grenfell Foundation'
What is Fight camp?
You will join our 8 week fight camp led by Jon Durrant and his coaching team. We accept all levels of ability, so don't worry if you haven't done any exercise for ages or you are a regular at the gym, our coaches have developed and will deliver a camp that works for all levels of experience. You don't have to be fit to start but you do have to start to get fit!
Expect :
- Introduction to boxing,
- Basic Punches
- Basic Defence
- Footwork
- Pad drills / combinations
- Advanced defence
- Sparring sessions (including 4 mandatory sessions)
- Fight Prep
You will learn all the fundamental steps on your road to the ring.
Our Camp consists of
- 15 Core sessions at The Jon Durrant Training Studio, Victoria (we expect each fighter to attend a minimum of half of these sessions)
- 4 of the sessions are Mandatory 'Must attend' sparring sessions.
- 1 White collar fight against an equally matched opponent. (based on a number of factors inc. but not limited to weight , experience, ability
(We have the above minimum attendance requirements to maintain our safety standards and ensure that you and your opponent are safely prepared to fight. )
What equipment do I need to take part ?
Those that sign up for the big fight will get a 10% discount from our Equipment Partner REVGEAR you can take a look at their kit here - https://revgeareurope.co.uk/
Everyone that takes part in our fight camps will need the following
Open Face headguard (expect to spend £25 and upwards)
Wraps (Expect to spend £7 and upwards)
Gum Shield (Expect to spend £5 and upwards)
Groin Guard (Mandatory for men) (Expect to spend £10 and upwards)
16oz Boxing Gloves (We recommend Revgear Gloves, you will be able to train and fight in these gloves which are the official Big Fight UK Gloves)
You can reasonably get kitted out for under £100. With Gum Shields, head guards and gloves we recommend you buy the best that you can afford.
Is there a Cost?
Your entire fight camp is free!
We ask that by signing up you agree to sell a minimum of 10 tickets to your fight (this covers the cost of the show) and Raise £50 for The Grenfell Foundation and connected charities through a dedicated Just Giving fundraising page that you create before you start training.
We have introduced a new option to give your supporters a discounted ticket price. You can now choose to pay £275 at the point of sign up, you will receive 10 tickets which you can then sell on to your supporters at £27.50 each. Saving them £7.50 per ticket ! This option is available to you at point of sign up only.
You can still sign up absolutely free, you'll still be asked to sell tickets (£35) each and to raise £50 for charity

Training times
Training start date - Monday 14th October
Monday and Wednesday 8pm - 1 Hour sessions
West London Camp
Limited spaces available to train at Armzhouse Gym, 2 Southam Street, W10 5PH
Training start date - Wednesday 16th October
Wednesday 19:30 and Saturday 19:30 - 1 hour sessions.
Fight Night
The Fight for North Kensington Fight Night will take place on
Thursday 7th December 2024 @ The Queen Mother Sports Centre
OK I'm in, what are my next steps ?
1. Complete the sign up on Fatsoma
2. You will be sent an email confirming you have a space and asking you to complete our online disclaimer
3. Set up your Just Giving fundraising page and connect to our team page. (instructions will be sent in confirmation email)
4. Attend our fight camp where you must meet a minimum of 50% attendance and that must include 4 mandatory sparring sessions. You will be asked to use our QR code register for every session that you attend. (The minimum attendance is so that we can ensure that all sparring and fights have been properly and safely prepared for, dates for the mandatory sessions will be found in your confirmation email)
5. Fundraise and sell your tickets! You can start your fundraising as soon as you have created the page and we urge you to get started with this as soon as you can. Tickets will go on sale the day after the first training session. You will be able to sell paper tickets, online tickets and tables as long as you reach a minimum of 10 people coming to see you fight.
