About this Event

Join the excitement as the School of Arts and Culture (SOAC) kicks off its festival season with its third annual Fiesta del Mariachi (FDM) celebration on Saturday, July 27, at the Mexican Heritage Plaza (La Plaza). Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernández takes the spotlight at FDM, enchanting mariachi fans with their vibrant and traditional harmonies and iconic hits like “Yo Puedo Hacer” and “El Carretero Se Va.”

As East San José strengthens its cultural ties with local artists and musicians, FDM embraces homegrown talent by featuring Bay Area legends Mariachi Azteca alongside other local mariachi groups on its stage. FDM surpasses a mere mariachi concert; it's an enrichment of the community. La Plaza's FDM brings diverse offerings, from savory food vendors, refreshing beer options, and local crafts vendors.

Quote from Edgar Ochoa, Director of Community Engagement:

“We take immense pride in our event's caliber and adeptness in highlighting talents from both local and distant locales. Within the Plaza, every seat is a good seat, and we look forward to welcoming guests of all ages to enjoy the beauty that is Mariachi music.”

Fiesta del Mariachi, presented by the School of Arts and Culture at MHP, featuring its title sponsor, PG&E, in association with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), Pro-Sweep, Destination: Home, Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, Excite Credit Union, AARP, City of San Jose D7 - Councilmember Bien Doan, On Lok PACE, CA Bank of Commerce, Santa Clara Family Health Plan, Alpha Public Schools, Heritage Bank of Commerce, Stanford Health Care, Charcoalblue LLC, City of San Jose D3 - Councilmember Omar Torres, and City of San Jose D8 - Councilmember Domingo Candelas.
