about the artists:

Immix is a new solo project by Robyn Jacob featuring voice and electronics. A pianist, singer, composer and educator living and working from the unceded territories of the Sḵwxwú7mesh, Xʷməθkʷəyəm and Səl’il’wətaʔ Nations, she has toured Canada and internationally with her avant-pop project Only A Visitor, who have recently released their fourth album Decay on Mint Records. Her compositions include commissions by Grammy winning Third Coast Percussion, Architek Percussion, So Percussion, Chor Leoni, and Little Chamber Music, and collaborations with visual artists and instrument makers.
Isaac Rufus explores the realms of acoustic, electronic, and digital sounds, weaving together the overlapping worlds into beautiful improvised experimental soundscapes. Through clarinet and self-built electronic effects, he finds the use of amplification a wonderful sound microscope, allowing the listener's ears to be carried into the now enlarged world of sonic characters. Isaac’s artistic work revolves around magnifying these subtle sound worlds and inviting people to share, explore and play with the physicality of sound.
Piu is a vocalist, composer, and producer who adorns expansive soundscapes with hard hitting synth riffs, raga-inspired vocals, and global rhythms. Based out of Vancouver Island, her sound blends genres, cultures, and identities—a reflection of how she moves in the world. Her approach involves a fusion of organic and synthetic sounds that invites deep emotional engagement. With seven singles released since 2021 and a debut album on the horizon, Piu is an active participant in the musical and experimental sound communities across British Columbia and has collaborations with musicians worldwide.
DeForrest Brown, Jr. is an Alabama-raised, Ex-American rhythmanalyst, writer, and curator. As Speaker Music, he channels the African American modernist tradition of rhythm and soul music as an intellectual site and sound of techno-vernacular expression. He has released three albums on Planet Mu; 'Of Desire, Longing' (2019), 'Black Nationalist Sonic Weaponry' (2020) and 'Techxodus' (2023). His written work explores the links between the Black experience in industrialized labor systems and Black innovation in electronic music. Brown’s debut book ‘Assembling a Black Counter Culture’ was released on Primary Information in 2022.
