This summer, the community is invited to come together for a special celebration as the Festival of Priory Fields marks the 21st anniversary of the Friends of Priory Fields (FOPF). For over two decades, they have worked to manage, maintain and protect Priory Arch and Fields, Bicknacre’s valued historical site and much-loved natural space.The festival will take place on Saturday, June 20, at Priory Playing Fields, Bicknacre (CM3 4ES), from 13:30 to 18:00, with live music continuing until 20:00. With free entry and activities for all ages, it promises to be a wonderful opportunity for the whole community to come together.
Priory Arch, dating back to around 1250, is the last remaining part of a medieval priory and a reminder of the area’s rich history. For the past 21 years, FOPF have cared for both the arch and surrounding land, preserving this important historic monument and peaceful green space.
The festival celebrates this milestone with a relaxed and enjoyable day for all, including:
- Picnic with Paddingten, Tiger & Story Book Characters at 2.30 pm
- Watch the Characters in a Dance Extravaganza – Silhouettes Dance Group
- Marmalade sandwiches & fairy cakes at Paddingtens Pantry – BVFC
- Paddington & Friends Art by Charlie Moore
- Music Meadow – Live Bands & Solo Artists until 8.00 pm (Sponsored by Mobus Agency)
- Nature Project by Jesters
- Re-Enactment of Vikings & Saxons – Eastsaxe Re-enactment (Sponsored by Danbury Contact Magazine)
- Hang a heart on the memorial tree for a lost loved one – FOPF & St Andrews Church
- Pony Rides by Essex Pony Club
- Hog Roast, B.B.Q, Paella & Pizza by Valentine Cuisine
- Middle Eastern Food by Falafel Street
