About this Event
What if your future isn't something you need to plan, but something you can already feel?
In this 2-hour in-person workshop, we'll practice future sensing, a somatic approach to calling forward the felt sense of what's coming. Drawing on Eugene Gendlin's Focusing methodology, we'll explore how the body knows before the mind does, and how our futures speak to us first through sensation, image, texture, and impulse.
This workshop is about cultivating receptivity to what your body already senses about your capacity, your path, and what wants to be carried forward. We will not be predicting the future, nor is this about manifestation in the conventional sense. This is an entirely different way to engage the future that gets the mind out of the way, invites compassion, non-judgement, and open listening.
What to expect:
This is a contemplative, slow-paced workshop designed to create space for inner exploration. We'll be working with silence, sensation, and emergence, so expect a different rhythm than typical workshops. There's no pressure to "get it right" or have a breakthrough.
- Introductions – We'll ground together, set the container, and orient to the practice ahead
- Guided somatic meditation – You'll be guided to call in the felt sense of your future and explore what emerges through bodily sensation, texture, image, and quiet knowing
- Journaling and automatic writing – Quiet, reflective time for putting sensations and impressions into words while staying in contact with the felt sense
- Group sharing and reflection – We'll have an opportunity to share what came through, witness others' experiences, and reflect together on the practice
We'll complete the container and offer any final reflections.
This workshop is for you if:
- You're navigating uncertainty or transition and want to sense forward rather than plan forward
- You're curious about embodied practices and somatic knowing
- You want to explore the edges of what's emerging in your life without forcing clarity
- You're drawn to contemplative, inquiry-based work that honors both body and language
What to bring:
- A journal or paper and pen
- An open, curious presence
- Willingness to be with whatever comes—or doesn't come
No prior experience with meditation or Focusing is required. Just bring yourself and your wonder.
