About this Event

Toasting Dr. Joy Spence and the vibrant craft of Appleton Estate Rums for our February Women of Whiskey in honor of Black History Month

About this Event

Join us for our February Women of Whiskey as we highlight the groundbreaking work of Dr. Joy Spence, the world‑renowned Master Blender of Appleton Estate and the first woman ever to hold the title of Master Blender. Raised in Jamaica, Dr. Spence has shaped the global identity of Jamaican rum through her extraordinary sensory expertise, scientific approach, and decades‑long dedication to the craft.

In honor of Black History Month, we’re proud to celebrate her legacy as a pioneer, cultural icon, and one of the most influential women in the spirits world.

This special evening will feature a tasting of three Appleton Estate rum cocktails, each paired with dishes crafted by Chef Christa to complement the depth, character, and complexity of Dr. Spence’s blends.
