About this Event
Happy February ❄️✨
As winter lingers, we’re turning toward a story that understands stillness, loss, and the long, quiet work of carrying grief. Our February read, voted for by you, is Hamnet by Maggie O'Farrell, a profoundly tender novel about love, family, and the unseen weight of bereavement.
This month’s theme is "A Winter’s Read", not in the sense of snow and cold alone, but in feeling. Hamnet is a novel that holds grief gently rather than loudly. It sits with sorrow instead of trying to resolve it, tracing how loss moves through a marriage, a household, and a body. O’Farrell writes into the silences, the pauses, the moments where pain is unspoken but deeply felt, capturing the emotional quiet of winter with extraordinary care.
At its heart, this is a book about what it means to keep living when something precious has been lost. How love endures. How memory lingers. How creativity, intimacy, and connection shift in the aftermath of grief. It’s a story that asks us to slow down, to feel deeply, and to allow complexity without rushing toward closure.
For the social part of the evening, we’ll be hosting Speed Book Dating with questions shaped around our experiences, comfort, and the ways we carry the people and experiences that have shaped us. Expect thoughtful, reflective prompts designed to foster connection that feels honest and grounding, especially suited to the quieter energy of winter.
Join us this February for an evening of softness, depth, and shared reflection. A winter’s read for those who love books that sit with you long after the final page.
