About this Event
WORLD: Palm D'or Winner
When the idea for the festival came about, Blue Is the Warmest Colour was the first film on the list. This epic coming of age story follows Adele in her early adulthood and her first love experiences with Emma (Lea Seydoux) in one of the most relatable depictions of a relationship you’re ever likely to see on screen.
The release of the film hit the headlines for its long and graphic love scenes, but also for a moment of #metoo solidarity when the Palm D"or was presented to the actresses instead of the director Abdellatif Kechiche because of his harsh treatment of them both on set. Both actresses stood by their work, completing the press tours and launching their careers. Brilliantly acted and completely engrossing.
Blue Is The Warmest Colour will be screened with intermissions due to the long run time. The original title of the film in French refers to the film as parts 1 & 2, so comes with a lengthy runtime which flies by as you follow Adele's trials and tribulations as a young woman experiencing life.
The screening is followed by the festival's evening event in teh cafe/bar.
This screening is available as a single ticket, or for full access across 3 days of the festival, you can book the Weekend Pass*.
*Children's events and journalism workshop not included.
