This April, Bompas & Parr presents a one-night supper that extends the world of My Lady Nicotine, the first exhibition in our studio, beyond the gallery and onto the table. Framed by the exhibition’s exploration of nicotine as muse, ritual and paradox, the evening will unfold as a sequence of gestures, habits and sensory cues.
Dishes will draw from the food and beverage developed for opening reception, expanded into a multi-course experience that plays with flavour, texture and illusion.
At our opening reception we served: Parfait Cigarettes, crisp fried pastry filled with tofu parfait and dipped in mushroom "ash"; Finger Staining Eggs which left their trace in turmeric-yellow on the fingers; Smoked Sardines on Toast which channelled late-night rituals, infused with pipe tobacco. A Berlin Breakfast cocktail of decaf coffee, cherry and cocoa, with an optional mint spritz to lift the palate.
As with the consumption of nicotine, the meal will be structured through pauses, repetitions and shared moments.
Bompas & Parr FEASTING is a series of intimate supper clubs hosted by Bompas & Parr at their London studio and innovation kitchen. Each feast is structured as a multi-course sensory experience, using food as a lens through which to explore cultural histories, contemporary rituals and the social dynamics of eating together.
Drawing on research, mythology, culture and the studio’s 18 year history, each edition is thematically distinct, responding to a specific moment in the calendar or cultural imagination.
