About this Event
Father John Anthony Boughton, CFR, General Vicar of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, Bronx, New York, and a 1987 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, will be the guest speaker at our “Lenten Prep as a Life Prep” series.
Father John Anthony will preach on “Christian Resistance in a Neo-Pagan World – How We Survive a Culture Gone Mad.” The service, offering Adoration of Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament and Solemn Benediction, is open to youth and adults. Although it will be live-streamed, we hope for good attendance in the church, where our diocesan Covid-19 health and safety guidelines will be maintained. Father John Anthony will be preaching at the Mass on the Vigil (Saturday, February 20th and all three Sunday Masses Sunday, February 21st) before the Lenten Prep Series.
Father John Anthony is a Dallas native, growing up on Colgate Avenue. He is a 1983 graduate of Highland Park High School and the Virginia Military Institute in 1987, leading to a Commission in the United States Naval Reserve.
He was a Sales Rep for AGFA from 1989- 91. Later, he was a Vice President and director of operations for St. David’s Relief Foundation from 1992-95. He joined the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in 1996.
He received a Master of Divinity from Saint Joseph Seminary, New York, and was ordained in 2005. He was the local superior in Honduras 2005-08 and at the friary in Nicaragua 2008-17. He was the director of Diocesan Pastoral Commissions for Life and Health and Pr*son Ministry 2010- 15 in Matagalpa, Nicaragua. Later, he was the Executive Director of Montaña de la Paz Foundation.
Currently, he is serving as the General Vicar of the Capuchin Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and is stationed in the Bronx.
