Join us as we embark on a journey of exploration and discovery, pushing the boundaries of architectural discourse and envisioning the future of our built environment.

About the Lecture:

Celebrating Architectural Conservation in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. 375,000 words. 592 pages. 60 contributing authors.

This landmark book has broad-ranging subject matter extending from the Aleutian Islands in the north to Antarctica in the south and numerous islands in between. As a taster for the book, this session will follow the Pecha Kucha format, with eight rapid-fire presentations from some of the authors of the book’s chapters on Aotearoa, New Zealand, and the South Pacific islands.

Speakers include Elizabeth Aitken Rose (seismicity), Ellen Andersen (Māori heritage), Robin Byron (old buildings, new work), Candace Bower (Fiji), Charmaine ‘Ilaiū Talei (Tonga), Christoph Schnoor (Samoa) and Julia Gatley (French Polynesia).

Join us for what promises to be a fun, informative session of snippets from John H. Stubbs, William Chapman, Julia Gatley and Ross King’s new book, Architectural Conservation in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands: National Experiences and Practice (London and New York: Routledge, 2024).

Refreshments will be served.
