About this Event

About the Work

Dress! Impress! Slay!
Fashionistas: Battle of the Babes is a dress-up turn-based multiplayer battler game. Fit out your Fashionista in the most stunning outfit you can muster, and get ready to brawl.
Fashionistas was created to show that anything and anyone can be fabulous. Dress-up games have historically been targeted towards traditional feminine beauty standards. While we love Barbie and Bratz dress-up, we wanted to design an experience that was quick to learn, energetic, and unabashedly camp. In Fashionistas, for which drag was a large inspiration, gender is bent and the bizarre is beautiful.
About the Artists

Tassneen Bashir is a game designer, educator, and visual artist that is dedicated to creating upbeat interactive experiences, positive gameplay, and representative stories. She explores the intersections of play, education, and exuberance through a femme, South-Asian, and Muslim lens. From unapologetically hyper-feminine aesthetics to interactive candid conversations over cha, she hopes to express her journey while resonating with players of similar backgrounds.
Camron Gonzalez is a game designer and writer living in Brooklyn with his partner and two cats: Athena and Panko. When he’s writing he likes tackling themes centered around those feelings we tell ourselves not to feel. But when he’s making games he loves delving into the silly and unusual.
Together as pineapple staircase, Tassneen and Camron aim to create games that lean into the goofy and absurd while simultaneously pulling on heartstrings. They are currently cooking up more wonky worlds as we speak!
Entrance to the exhibition and all performances are free. If you would like to support the Every Woman Biennial, donations are welcome and can be made .
