Fascination Monochord - Post Election Day Restorative Workshop
This hands-on workshop offers participants the opportunity to experience a subtle and fascinating instrument for sound mediation and sound-healing: the feeltone monochord. Consisting of 34 strings on a resonating wood body with a curved shape, monochords made by feeltone are a modern reinvention of an ancient instrument, specifically designed for sound meditation and sound therapy.
Workshop participants are offered an introductory talk with an overview of the monochord instrument and the feeltone Company that builds them. Next everyone is offered the opportunity to try out strumming the monochord, rotating between 6 Monolina models with different tunings. After a deeper monochord exploration, supplemental instruments are introduced from the Elemental Soundscapes instrument collection, featuring corresponding collections that match each of the 5 monochords. These instruments include: kalimba, Sansula, Tongue Drums, and Hanging Chimes.
